You Gotta Serve Somebody Contributed by David Owens on Sep 9, (message contributor) (rate this sermon) | 1, views. Scripture: Romans Denomination: Christian/Church Of Christ. Summary: When we become Christians, we are set free from our bondage to sin, but we must then strive to be slaves of righteousness. Everyone either serves. But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes Indeed you're gonna have to serve somebody Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord But you're gonna have to serve somebody You might be a rock 'n' roll addict prancing on the stage You might have drugs at your command, women in a cage You may be a business man or some high-degree thief.

Bob Dylan wrote some really great songs during his so-called ‘born-again’ period. Perhaps the most famous was, You Gotta Serve Somebody. The lyrics are pure gold: You may be an ambassador to England or France You may like to gamble, you might like to dance You may be the heavyweight champion of the world You may be a socialite with a long string of pearls. But you’re gonna have to serve. It was called You Gotta Serve Somebody. That’s what Romans 6 is telling us. Mom, you gotta serve somebody this week. Dad, you gotta serve somebody this week. Student, you gotta serve somebody this week. Doctor, lawyer, baker, pharmacist, farmer, salesman, singer, writer, author, nurse, you gotta serve somebody this week.

Besides "Gotta Serve Somebody," other Slow Train Coming" standouts include the emotional "I Believe in You," featuring lovely Knopfler guitar lines, and the .   GOTTA SERVE SOMEBODY. Joshua Introduction. A Sunday School teacher challenged her children to take some time on Sunday afternoon to write a letter to God. They were to bring their letters back the following Sunday. One little boy wrote, "Dear God, we had a good time at church today. Wish you could have been there.".

The song was recorded in May of that year at Muscle Genre: Blues rock, Christian rock, funk, gospel. A true statement indeed, " You Gotta Serve Somebody". As he expounds upon that idea in his song he truthfully proclaims, "It may be the devil or it may be the Lord, but you gotta serve somebody." The Book of Joshua provokes us to consider one of the most important questions of the spiritual life- whom will you serve. Will it be the Lord or some other concern. Making something finite the ultimate concern of one's life is a grave spiritual predicament. Only is the Lord is ultimate and it is only when we recognize this truth that the other concerns of our life can be properly ordered and.
